Hybrid: From home and our office at Amsterdam Central Station

Total Salary: from 44.000 to 64.000 EUR (before taxes including allowances) plus excellent secondary benefits (see below)

Full-time: 37.5 hours per week

If you are driven by a passion for education and the Internet, have a talent for guiding people, can explain highly technical concepts with ease and love working with people from around the world, then you may be our next Technical Trainer and Development Officer.

The RIPE NCC’s Learning and Development department is looking for an inspiring new colleague to develop and deliver technical training courses and contribute to outreach and capacity-building activities throughout our service region. Our courses are taken by people throughout Europe, the Middle East and parts of Central Asia so we are looking for someone curious, enthusiastic, empathetic and excited to work with people from diverse cultures.

Our ideal candidate is a great communicator who enjoys storytelling and has interest in Internet related topics. This is a great opportunity for both, those who started their careers and those who already have some experience. We value eagerness to learn and willingness to work collaboratively as well as independently. 

🧠What You Will Be Doing: 

  • Deliver technical training courses, webinars and presentations on topics such as IPv6, BGP and the RIPE Database in a variety of locations in Europe, the Middle East and Central Asia

  • Share knowledge with the technical Internet community, RIPE NCC members, Academia, Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) and governments

  • Develop and improve training course material

  • Be a content matter expert for colleagues and peers

  • Contribute to our portfolio of online learning resources

  • Deliver internal training courses (to staff)

  • Represent the RIPE NCC at various industry events and conferences, sometimes as an attendee, sometimes as a speaker

Job requirements

👀 What We're Looking For:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Networking Engineering, or related field

  • From 0 to 2 years of hands-on network engineering experience, ideally related to BGP or IPv6 

  • A self-starter who is able to team up with colleagues to create and deliver successful training experiences

  • You are proactive about staying up-to-date on technical developments

  • You are confident in public speaking, creative, take initiative and a strong communicator

  • Excellent command of English, both written and verbal

  • The ability and flexibility to travel internationally (about 25% of your time)

We would also appreciate:

  • Recent CCNA/ JNCIA, RIPE NCC Certified Professionals BGP Security Associate, IPv6 Fundamentals - Analyst or IPv6 Security Expert, or other technical qualifications

  • Experience in developing training materials and delivering technical training courses, either face-to-face or online

  • Working knowledge of the Linux/Unix operating system/scripting

  • Dutch language lessons for international colleagues. If we relocate you with your partner, we also offer this for your partner 

  • An annual health budget of €750 gross that you can spend on sport classes, a mindfulness course, chair massage, etc

  • An annual budget of €1.600 gross for your Internet connectivity and technology at home

  • When travelling with public transport, your transportation costs will be covered by a first-class train ticket to our Amsterdam office and/or KM allowance.

  • An additional annual transportation budget of €500 gross that you can use for example on a bike or GVB card

  • A sport hour per week, for doing sports or fitness during work hours

  • Home office furniture budget for a healthy, ARBO proof work setup at home.

  • Organisation-wide internal training program designed to develop critical soft skills—like feedback, resilience, and leadership—giving you the tools to excel in your career and beyond.

  • An in-house free barista providing healthy varied lunches on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and nice breakfasts on Thursdays, plus monthly office social events.

  • Casual team events such as team outings, annual Christmas party and summer BBQ.

Our international team of 12 colleagues is responsible for one of the RIPE NCC’s key services: providing training, knowledge and expertise to our members and the wider Internet community. We have our finger on the pulse when it comes to the latest industry developments, so we can evolve and adapt our learning portfolio at the same pace as the rapidly changing tech landscape.
