Hybrid: From home and our office at Amsterdam Central Station

Salary: between EUR 49.000 to EUR 69.000 (before tax) plus excellent secondary benefits (see below)

Full-time: 37.5 hours per week

The RIPE NCC’s Learning and Development department is looking for an inspiring new colleague to develop and deliver technical training courses and contribute to outreach and capacity-building activities throughout our service region. Our courses are taken by people throughout Europe, the Middle East and parts of Central Asia, so we are looking for someone curious, enthusiastic, empathetic and excited to work with people from diverse cultures.


🧠In this role, you will:

  • Deliver technical training courses, webinars and presentations on topics such as IPv6, BGP and the RIPE Database in a variety of locations in Europe, the Middle East and Central Asia

  • Share knowledge with the technical Internet community, RIPE NCC members, Academia, Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) and governments

  • Develop and improve training and assessment material, contributing to our portfolio of learning experiences

  • Be a subject matter expert for colleagues and deliver internal training courses to Staff; train and coach part-time trainers

  • Manage (or contribute to) projects that build capacity in our service region

  • Represent the RIPE NCC at various industry events and conferences, sometimes as an attendee, sometimes as a speaker

Job requirements

👀 Our ideal candidate would have:

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in the Internet or networking industry

  • Minimum two years of hands-on experience with data network configuration, a solid knowledge of IPv6, and at least one of the following: RPKI, BGP, network security, OSPF, IS-IS, traffic engineering

  • You are proactive about staying up-to-date on technical developments

  • Confident in public speaking, a team player, creative, takes initiative and an excellent communicator

  • Excellent command of English, both written and verbal

  • The ability and flexibility to travel internationally (about 20% of your time)


It would be great if you also have:

  • Recent CCNA/ JNCIA, certifications from the RIPE NCC (Certified Professionals: BGP Security Associate, IPv6 Fundamentals Analyst, IPv6 Security Expert) or other technical qualifications

  • Work experience in an ISP or IXP and/or participation in the RIPE community or other technical Internet communities

  • Experience in developing training materials and delivering technical training courses, either face-to-face or online

  • Working knowledge of the Linux/Unix operating system/scripting

  • An annual salary between EUR 49.000 and EUR 69.000 (before tax) for a full-time week (37.5 hours per week) depending on experience. This includes the standard 8% annual “holiday pay”.

Our international team of 12 colleagues is responsible for one of the RIPE NCC’s key services: providing training, knowledge and expertise to our members and the wider Internet community. We have our finger on the pulse when it comes to the latest industry developments, so we can evolve and adapt our learning portfolio at the same pace as the rapidly changing tech landscape.
